The range of the contrabass trombone (excluding fundamentals or pedal notes) demanded by Wagner is from E1 to E4, though composers since then have required even lower notes - even as low as B♭0. The next higher partials—B♭4 (a major second higher), C5 (a major second higher), D5 (a major second higher)—do not require much adjustment for even-tempered intonation, but E♭ (a minor second higher)is almost exactly a quarter tone higher than it would be in twelve-tone equal temperament.

Bach 36BO, .525" medium bore, open wrap standard rotary valve. In great shape and a nice sounding instrument. The trombone is the core brass sound that occurs in all great band and orchestral compositions. UPDATE: The Minick bell had some poor repair work done to it, which I've had Robb Stewart go over and do his best to save this rare bell flare. It is a C series, dating it to around 1962 (my personal favorite year for Elkhart Conns).

Read Full » Having not played for nearly 30 years I had the desire to play the cornet again. The muted brass will not only be softer, but will also yield an altogether different tone color. We recently restored this trombone here at The Brass Ark. PC: Pentium 4 or Athlon 64 (or SSE compliant Athlon XP) running Windows XP SP2 or higher, 350 MB hard drive space, 256 MB RAM and a VST 2.4 compatible host. The lips then close (4 to 1) and the cycle then repeats. Thank you very much for the good service and for the excellent CD.

These are linked to their respective principal instruments with either a "d" if the same player doubles the instrument, or a "+" if an extra player is required. All the way through the mid-20th century it was common to see orchestral trombone players using instruments that did not include the trigger mostly because of a lack of a need for one. The slide has also been modified with what looks like custom nickel outer slide tubes. Edd started playing Trombone at the age of 7.
