Each bell that I tried really did have its distinct characteristics. Serial No. 583XX (early 80s), You don't see these available every day, what more can I say? The pitch of the instrument is changed by altering the fundamental length of the main tube using a large slide. It is easily one of the most ubiquitous small jazz tenors of the 30's and 40's, as it was one of the highest quality trombones built at the time.

It has a very nice thin responsive yellow brass bell flare. I also took a Bach 16 on the road with me last year and liked it quite a bit. This horn was recently adjusted and is completely playable. This is a rare model from one of the most desirable vintages of Bach trombones. It is notated at concert pitch, that is the written note is the actual note sounded, in spite of the instrument being pitched in B flat. Recently tuned up and looking mighty fine.

SOLD Top of the line professional bass trombone made by SE Shires in Massachusetts. The previous owner wanted a more Germanic type wrap and had the tubing rearranged and remounted. The result may be anywhere between a low pitched 'raspberry' or a high pitched musical note, depending on the tension and the geometry of your lips (how hard you pull them backwards in that smile), and other parameters. (It's easier to play with an instrument connected, but you can play without, so the resonator is not strictly necessary.) 'Buzzing' with the lips alone, and varying the tension.
